Your chillers work hardest on the hottest afternoons. We cool the air before it gets there.

Coolth installs and operates condenser pre-cooling on industrial chillers in Phoenix. We pay for the equipment, meter the savings, and share them with you. The word means the opposite of warmth. We brought it back.

How it works

An air-cooled chiller rejects heat to the outside air. The hotter that air, the harder the compressor works. In dry climates, passing air through wet media cools it by evaporation before it reaches the coil, so the condenser sees a cooler afternoon than the one outside.

Our modules stand beside the chiller and do exactly that. The media is a stack of thin plates that wick water from a shallow bath. Air moves along the plates, not through a pad, so the condenser fans barely notice the modules are there.

The chiller runs cooler, draws less power, and its peak demand falls at the hours when Arizona power costs the most. Nothing about the chiller itself changes.

Three ways to work with us

Shared savings

We fund, install, and operate the system. You keep a share of the metered savings from day one and most of them after we recover our cost. No capital, no risk, and you can buy the system from year four.

Fixed monthly fee

A flat fee per module, predictable and budgetable, with the performance guarantee intact. Everything above the fee is yours. The right fit for sites that want certainty over a percentage.

Purchase

Buy the system outright with a service and measurement contract, and keep all of the savings. We install, commission, and verify it the same way we verify our own.

Measured, not modeled

Every site is calibrated the same way: we meter the chiller with the system on and off across matched days and conditions, and your savings are calculated from your own meter readings every month. The method is the retrofit-isolation approach recognized by utility programs and lenders, and the calibration is reviewed by an independent engineer.

  • Revenue-grade metering on each chiller, with 15-minute interval data
  • On/off calibration windows each season, wet-bulb measured on site
  • Monthly statements you can check against your utility bill
  • Water metered separately and shown on the same statement

Straight about water

Evaporative cooling uses water. Ours uses about three gallons for every kilowatt-hour it saves, only during the hours it runs, and a fraction of what a cooling tower uses to do the same job. We meter every gallon, it appears on your statement, and the water cost comes off the top before savings are shared.

Sites that need to cap water can run the system in peak-only mode: the same hardware, operating just on the hottest hours, for a small fraction of the water and most of the demand benefit.

Who we are

Coolth is founded by Marcus Lara, who built and sold Hathaspace, a consumer air-quality brand, after building its manufacturing and supply chain from the ground up.

We are not tied to one manufacturer. We qualify media and hardware from established industrial suppliers and match the product to the machine, because a rooftop condenser and a 400-ton chiller are not the same problem.

We are based in Phoenix, we own what we install, and we are in it for the length of the contract.

Where we work

Air-cooled chillers and condensers of 150 tons and up, running most of the year: cold storage, food distribution and processing, data centers, hospitals, and industrial process cooling across the Phoenix metro, with Tucson to follow.

If your plant runs on cooling towers or ammonia evaporative condensers, we are not the right fit, and we will tell you so.

Tell us about your site
